RESOLUTIONS ?????

Ball Drop NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS
I'm making up my list:

  • TAKE MY VITAMINS DAILY
  • WRITE SOME "REAL" LETTERS (not just e-mail)
  • Do more physical therapy

Go to Church more

When I call my relatives in states like Texas, Georgia, and Florida ... they
delight in bragging about their weather ... temps at least 50/60
degrees warmer than we have here. They don't get stuck in the snow,
either.

Another anecdote from Telephone Time:

"
A FELLOW CALLED IN, LOOKING TO BUY A USED SNOWMOBILE.
HIS HOME IS IN ALASKA; HE'S BOUGHT PROPERTY BY CRYSTAL FALLS & COMES
SOUTH TO WINTER HERE. WHEN HE RETIRES (SOME OF HIS WORK BRINGS
HIM ABOVE THE ARTIC CIRCLE)
... HE'S PLANNING ON MOVING SOUTH TO CRYSTAL
FALLS ... WE ONLY HAVE 5 MONTHS OF WINTER HERE!"

Reading SOME WINTER READING:

My winter reading project:

I DID THIS LAST YEAR, TOO ... CRYSTAL FALLS LIBRARY HAS A WONDERFUL SELECTION OF BOOKS ON THE UPPER PENINSULA.

Some are history books; I like the books made for certain towns for the centennial celebrations. These have many old photos, family names, & history going way back. I'm sure that all libraries would have books of regional interest, too.

Computing
Others are by local authors past & present .... so
interesting .... ARE YOU WRITING YOURS, YET?

Especially for those who live in Michigan, some libraries have a system so that you can have your own library order a book from the Crystal Falls library for you for a reasonable fee. TRY IT?

Michigan has an e-Library;

History Resources at the site:

It looks as tho one might be able to look up old plat maps, too.

I never make New Years resolutions anymore. I was just looking at your temp thingy. Boy is it cold up there. The man from Alaska didn't pick a very warm place to winter but I suppose it's a lot warmer than As. I hope the deer and turkey are making it ok during that cold and icy weather. Take care and don't slide down in all that snow. Hugs,Helen

Hi Lois--I left a comment on what may be an alternate blog you have, but just wanted to say Thank you for plugging the Michigan eLibrary, MeL.org! I was up in the UP twice last year and plan to come again this spring on MeL.org business. Glad you like MeLCat for borrowing books, dvds, etc. from now around 300 libraries on both peninsulas! I hope you'll check out our digital Michigan history collections found in MeL Michigana--oral histories, diaries, photographs, maps and more!

Happy New Year and good luck with your resolutions!
